US President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.
Trump announced the ceasefire from his account on the Truth Social Platform.
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire,” he said.
“Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence,” he added.Tabadlab founding partner Mosharraf Zaidi, in response to a tweet by United States Vice President JD Vance, said India “owes President Trump and you a deep and profound debt of gratitude Veep!”
In a post on X, Zaidi said Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio helped India achieve a “face-saving exit” and “re-established the centrality of resolving Kashmir to global stability and security”.Former military spokesperson Asif Ghafoor has said that India must learn to be a responsible state, stressing that Pakistan “has always worked for peace”.
“War is a serious undertaking. Pakistan has always worked for peace in [the] region and beyond,” Ghafoor wrote in a post on X. “Our strat cap is also for peace to avert war, unless imposed,” he said, adding that this is the “sanity that must prevail”.
“India must learn how to be a responsible state. Never too late!” Ghafoor wrote.Senator Sherry Rehman congratulated the civil and military leadership for “emerging out of the war with dignity, professionalism and national resolve unequivocally intact”.
In a post on X, Sherry said that PM Shehbaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari and COAS Asim Munir, along with our valorous military, have proved they can brilliantly defend the motherland on all platforms without losing nerve or grace.
“They have also given a clear message of Pakistan’s obvious capacity for conventional deterrence,” she said, adding that it was high time that India was urged to bring a constructive approach to the table for broader talks, including on water and Kashmir. Pakistan’s doors are always open for dialogue and sanity on just, equal terms.
“Time for the Indian media also to not shrink the political space for a sober endgame,” she said.Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, describing it as “a victory for peace and a triumph for all who desire stability in the region.”
He stated that the announcement has been met with widespread approval in Pakistan.
“This ceasefire represents a significant step towards de-escalation and creates an opportunity for both nations to prioritise dialogue,” the CM said.
He further urged India to pursue peaceful resolutions to all outstanding disputes, including the Kashmir issue, through sustained dialogue and negotiations.
The chief minister lauded the security forces for their role in maintaining national security, specifically acknowledging the air force.
