Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company Limited (SRBC), the government-owned operator of ATV channel, has officially terminated services of all employees effective November 30, 2025, as part of court-supervised liquidation proceedings ordered by the Islamabad High Court.
An official notice dated November 24, 2025, confirms that the liquidation requires termination of all personnel categories by close of business on November 30. The directive encompasses regular staff, contractual workers, deputed personnel, temporary employees, daily-wage earners, broadcast resource persons, and individuals holding officiating or additional charges, including those currently on leave.
Outgoing employees must submit work-status reports, hand over official files, documents, passwords, assets, and media storage devices by November 28. Staff members are required to provide clearance acknowledgments, banking details, CNIC copies, and updated contact information to the Administration Office.
The liquidation will impact approximately 280 ATV employees along with numerous staff associated with FM Radio 94.6 and other broadcasting operations under SRBC management. The shutdown effectively ends all ATV channel broadcasts and radio services across Pakistan.
Financial settlements, including gratuity, leave encashment, pending salary adjustments, and other claims, will be processed according to SRBC service rules and applicable laws. However, payments remain subject to liquidation fund availability and priorities approved by the Islamabad High Court.
The termination notice emphasizes that service cessation results purely from court-mandated liquidation requirements rather than disciplinary action or punitive measures against employees.
Earlier this year, federal information authorities proposed reviving SRBC through a business plan and potential public-private partnership to preserve approximately 300 jobs. The court requested shareholders submit a comprehensive revival package, but liquidation proceedings continued pending concrete proposals.
Muhammad Atif Saeed signed the order on behalf of Khilji Rahat Waheed, Chartered Accountants, serving as Official Liquidators of SRBC. Copies have been distributed to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan Television Corporation, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Pakistan National Council of Arts, and posted on SRBC’s notice board.
The closure marks the end of operations for SRBC, which has faced persistent financial difficulties leading to these liquidation proceedings before the Islamabad High Court.
