ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Engineer Amir Muqam, has announced plans to establish Danish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan, aiming to enhance educational opportunities in the region.
The announcement came during a meeting with Hafiz-ur-Rehman, president of PML-N Gilgit-Baltistan, held in Islamabad. The Minister underscored the PML-N’s commitment to integrating Gilgit-Baltistan into the national mainstream as a core objective.
He further emphasized the government’s dedication to allocating substantial development funds for the region, highlighting education as a priority to support its growth and integration.This initiative reflects the government’s broader vision of fostering progress and inclusion in all parts of Pakistan.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has announced the expansion of Daanish school system to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.He was addressing a ceremony held in connection with the inspection of the construction site of the Daanish School in Islamabad.
PM Sharif said being the Punjab chief minister, he laid the foundation of Daanish Schools in the province to impart quality education to the students, particularly in remote and backward areas.He said thousands of students are now rendering their services and highlighting the name of the country after completing their education from these schools.
PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed his regret that nearly 260 million children are out of schools today. However, he expressed the government’s resolve to get these children enrolled into schools.He said the government will also provide and ensure complete funding for construction of Daanish Schools in other provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
The premier assured making all-out efforts on an emergency basis for the promotion of education in the country particularly in far-flung areas.He announced that the Daanish School in Islamabad will be constructed on thirty acres of land and will be equipped with all modern equipment and facilities.
The PM also directed the Secretary of Education to complete this project within six months instead of two years.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced immediate power supply of 100 megawatts for Gilgit-Baltistan and a Rs1 billion endowment fund for the universities students.
The prime minister, who chaired the special meeting of the GB cabinet during his daylong visit here, expressed satisfaction and pleasure over the timely completion of Bubar Model Village, which he earlier inaugurated, to provide housing facility to the people affected by flood in 2022. He instructed the GB administration to establish educational institutions, playgrounds, power transmission and other facilities in the Ghizer district.
Besides announcing an immediate power supply of 100 megawatts to GB, the prime minister announced Rs1 billion merit-based endowment fund for the students of Baltistan University and Karakorum University. Prime Minister Shehbaz told the GB cabinet members that the federal government would establish Danish Schools in GB, on the pattern of Punjab province. He said that his government was actively working for the uplift and welfare of the GB people.
